Microsoft demonstrated their Skype Translator technology at the Microsoft Partner Conference 2014, and it’s impressive to say the least. Indeed, it’s a game-changer, representing an incredibly powerful tool for international communications.
There’s video of the technology from MPC, but I found this one from the 2014 Re/Code Conference to be more interesting by virtue of including some introductory discussion from Microsoft CEO Satya Nagella–particularly his description of the technology as “magical.”
Skype Translator is expected to hit Windows 8.1 as a beta later this year, and so this is something of a technology demo at this point. But it’s amazing stuff nevertheless, and proves that Microsoft continues to do groundbreaking work for which I hope they start getting more widespread recognition.
